Partnership between Pyareo and Acupuncturist

Administration Wendy Hobbs recently announced a partnership between Pyareo Home and Acupuncturist Abram Ojure of Cambridge, MA. Mr. Ojure , in return for using one of Pyareo’s rooms to treat local patients on a biweekly basis, will give residents treatments at no cost. Wendy can attest to Mr. Ojure’s skills. Complaining of a headache, she had a brief treatment and emerged saying, “That was quick. My headace is gone.” More about his background can be found at http://cambridgehealthassociates.com/node/180. Other Ways to Give

Pyareo depends on generous donors to bridge the gap between Pyareo’s operational costs and its residents’ ability to pay. Almost all of these greatly needed and appreciated donations are in the form of cash, which is to say checks or credit cards. But it is possible to support the ongoing mission in other ways.

Donation of Securities
Donors who have appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can gain a tax advantage and donate more to Pyareo by donating the securities to the home. If they are sold and then donated, the donor is taxed on the capital gains; but if they are transferred to directly to Pyareo there is no capital gain tax for either the donor or the Home. Pyareo gets the full amount.

Donation of Property
Pyareo can also accept property. The same principle applies. If the property is transferred directly to Pyareo, there is no capital gain tax if the property has appreciated in value. Pyareo, as a practical matter, would probably sell the donated property quickly. But the donor would gain a potentially large tax saving.

Transfer after Death
Several people have given money to Pyareo through wills and others have told us that Pyareo is in their wills. Pyareo can also be named as the beneficiary of an IRA, SEP plan or a 401 (k). These funds can be used in retirement with the remaining funds transferred to Pyareo after one’s death.

So donations to Pyareo do not have to be “cash on the barrel head.” All of the above require a little more work and might require some legal advice. But this is justified since Pyareo would receive a larger donation and the donor would see more of his assetts go directly to Pyareo.
